China CSSC Holdings has secured a contract worth more than $1bn to build 10 dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers, according to a stock exchange disclosure on 15 September 2026. Guangzhou Shipyard International will build the vessels for an unnamed shipowner, with deliveries due between 2029 and 2031.
Aegean Shipping Management has exercised an option for a second VLCC at Hengli Heavy Industry in China, taking its orderbook there to three LR2 tankers and two VLCCs. The Greek owner also agreed to sell the 2022-built LR2 tanker Green Adventure for $83m and recently delivered the LR2 tanker Green Liberty from COSCO Yangzhou Shipyard.
Advantage Tankers has ordered four 50,000 dwt MR product tankers from Guangzhou Shipyard International, according to shipbroking and market sources. Delivery is expected by 2029, and the contract price has not been disclosed. The order is the Swiss tanker owner and operator’s first move into the MR segment.
Royal Caribbean has begun construction on its fifth Icon-class cruise ship with a keel-laying ceremony at Meyer Turku in Finland. The vessel is due to enter service in 2028, but the company has not released its name, specifications or itinerary.
VietNam Shiprepair completed replacement of a locally corroded cooling water pipeline on a Panamax bulk carrier at Van Phong Anchorage. The work was carried out under NKK Class supervision after long-term service caused localized corrosion and leakage, the yard said. It used NKK-approved welding procedures, certified welders and approved materials, and finished with pressure and operational testing and final NKK surveyor endorsement.
VietNam Shiprepair completed an overhaul of Crane No. 3 on a Panamax woodchips carrier at Ha Long Anchorage after the jib hoist winch drum bearings failed and stopped jib raising and lowering. The unit was dismantled at Cai Lan Port, sent to the yard’s Hai Phong workshop for reconditioning, then returned and reinstalled at Ha Long Anchorage with operational testing.
Austal USA said its floating dry dock at its San Diego waterfront ship repair facility is fully certified and operational. The dock has a 9,000 light ton lifting capacity and is set up for small surface combatants and similar sized ships.
Bollinger Shipyards joined U.S. Coast Guard officials and the family of Jeffrey Palazzo at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City on September 12, 2026, for the commissioning of USCGC JEFFREY PALAZZO (WPC-1163). The Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter is named for Palazzo, a Coast Guard reservist and FDNY firefighter who died on September 11, 2001. Bollinger said it has delivered more than 189 vessels to the Coast Guard over more than three decades.
Voly and MB92 Group have agreed a strategic partnership to integrate Pinpoint Works with MB92’s customer portal, The Bridge. The companies said the link will let worklists move from crew and owners’ representatives into The Bridge, with faster information exchange, more accurate quoting and less administration on refit projects.
Oma Baatbyggeri delivered M/S Rygerlys to Rødne Trafikk on Friday 4 September 2026. The fully electric combi-catamaran, newbuild number 564, will run the Lauvik-Lysebotn route under a 10-year contract with Kolumbus AS. The 46-metre vessel can carry cars, trucks, cargo and up to 97 passengers.
Samsung Heavy Industries has won contracts for six large vessels worth 1.65 trillion won, or $1.2 billion, from an Oceania-based shipowner. The order covers four 200,000-cubic-meter LNG carriers and two crude oil tankers, and takes the yard's commercial ship orders this year to $7.3 billion.
COSCO Shipping has launched the 88,000-cbm LPG dual-fuel very large gas carrier Chang Ping Yuan. The vessel can run on LPG or conventional marine fuel and carries a shaft generator designed to cut emissions. COSCO Shipping did not disclose the shipyard where it was built.
