Chowgule and Company's Shipbuilding Division delivered its 50th export vessel on 8 September 2026, completing a 12-vessel series for AtoB@C Shipping, a subsidiary of ESL Shipping. The yard said 48 of the 50 export vessels were built in Goa and two in Mangaluru, with most customers in Europe.
HMM has ordered 2+2 50,000 dwt MR product tankers from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, according to shipping broker Bancosta. Each ship is priced at $52 million, putting the four-vessel deal at about $208 million if HMM exercises the option.
H-Line Shipping of South Korea has ordered two 210,000 dwt LNG dual-fuel newcastlemax bulk carriers at New Times Shipbuilding in China. The ships are linked to long-term charter commitments with POSCO and are due for delivery in 2030. Industry sources cited by Splash put the price at about $94 million each, or roughly $188 million for the pair.
India launched ORV Sagar Manthan, its first indigenously built ocean research vessel, at Rishi Bankim Shipyard in Kolkata on 09 Sep 2026. Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers built the vessel for the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. The ship was launched about five months after keel laying and is built under the Deep Ocean Mission’s Vertical-4 at a cost of about Rs 840 crore.
Meyer Turku floated out Hero of the Seas on 4 September 2026, moving the fourth Icon Class cruise ship built for Royal Caribbean into outfitting at its Turku shipyard in Finland. The yard filled its dry dock with more than 90 million gallons of water for the operation, then towed the ship to the adjacent pier for interior work, technical installations and finishing before sea trials and handover.
Trawind Shipping has taken delivery of the multi-purpose vessel Trawind Shanghai, adding it to its fleet of general cargo and project cargo carriers. The ship was ordered on 6 Jun 2024 at Daian Binhai Shipbuilding under hull number BZ24-09, with delivery scheduled from 8 Sep 2026.
HMM has agreed a 25-year iron ore shipping contract with Vale worth KRW4.7 trillion ($3.49 billion), starting in 2030. The deal covers eight 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax bulkers ordered in June 2025, with delivery scheduled from 2030 and orderbook data putting handover between January and September 2031.
Windward Offshore has taken delivery of Windward Hamburg, completing a four-vessel CSOV series ordered from Vard. The vessel joins Windward Athens, Windward Paris and Windward Munich in the fleet, which can support offshore wind projects through construction, commissioning and long-term operations. All four ships were delivered on or ahead of schedule.
Greek owner Sea Pioneer Shipping has been identified as the buyer behind SK Oceanplant’s six firm plus two optional aframax tanker order. The South Korean yard valued the firm six 115,000 dwt crude carriers at about KRW600bn ($437m), with the full package rising to KRW800bn ($583m) if both options are exercised.
Leonhardt & Blumberg has ordered another two 49,500 dwt MR chemical and product tankers from Guangzhou Shipyard International, extending a newbuilding programme launched in 2024. Broker reports say the pair is due for delivery in 2029 and will be built to the same specification as the earlier ships, with scrubbers and methanol-ready designs.
Hanwha Ocean has signed a contract with Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport for six 13,650-TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships worth about 1.55 trillion won. The vessels will be built at Geoje and delivered sequentially through the second half of 2029. The order follows Yang Ming’s first deal with the yard a year earlier and came two days after Hanwha Ocean booked a separate gas carrier order worth 477.8 billion won.
Carlova Maritime has ordered an approximately 82,000-dwt Kamsarmax bulk carrier at Hengli Heavy Industries in China. The vessel is due for delivery in 2027, according to market sources, and follows the Greek owner’s earlier order for a 114,000-dwt Aframax tanker at the same yard.
