Kevin Lunday and other senior officials at its Houma and LaShip facilities this week for a review of progress on the Arctic Security Cutter program. The yard said it is advancing early production work on the first tranche of medium polar icebreakers under a contract valued at approximately $2.2 billion.
ASTICAN has expanded the concession area at the Reina Sofía quay in the Port of Las Palmas, extending its berthing line and adding capacity for ship repair and offshore work. The yard said the extra space will support project planning and larger-scale operations for its repair, maintenance and conversion business.

Golar LNG has bought the 2013-built LNG carrier Grace Dahlia from NYK Line to secure the donor vessel for its fourth floating LNG conversion. The 177,427 cu m ship will be converted at CIMC Raffles in Yantai into a 3.5 million tonnes per annum MKII FLNG, with delivery scheduled by the end of 2029.
Seaspan Corporation has ordered two 210,000-dwt tri-fuel ore carriers from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for delivery in 2030. The ships will be chartered to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and tied to a 25-year iron ore transportation agreement between MOL Ocean Bulk and Vale International.
Rauma Marine Constructions has completed the five-year dry docking of icebreaker Voima, the oldest vessel in Arctia’s fleet. The work included hull survey-related activities needed for regulatory approval in the coming years, plus inspections and maintenance on underwater parts, valves, shafts, the rudder, tanks and pipe systems.

The package covers three Robert Allan-designed classes, including a 120-tonne bollard-pull RAmpage 4200 offshore tug, a RAstar 3200SX terminal tug and four RAmparts 2400SX-MKII Boğaçay-class harbor tugs.
SFL Corporation Ltd. has agreed to build two 93,000 cbm Very Large Ammonia Carriers, with delivery due from the second quarter of 2028. The two ships carry an expected aggregate yard construction cost of about $216 million and come with long-term time charters that add at least about $162 million to SFL’s fixed-rate charter backlog.
Acta Marine has christened the construction service operation vessel Acta Hercules in IJmuiden. The vessel, delivered earlier this year, is under a long-term charter to Vestas and was ordered in June 2022 from Tersan Shipyard, according to TrustedDocks orderbook data.
Carlova Maritime has ordered two 114,000-dwt Aframax tankers from Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding. The ships are due in the fourth quarter of 2029 and the first quarter of 2030, and the contract price has not been disclosed. Japanese sources said some construction work may be subcontracted to other Japanese yards.
Wuhu Shipyard has delivered a 6,600-tonne-capacity chemical and product tanker fitted with 12 independent cargo tanks and a DC electric propulsion system. The vessel, hull number W2348, was ordered by Norwegian shipowner RFOcean on 9 January 2025 for USD 20 million and handed over on 5 October 2026.
