President William Ruto launched the groundbreaking for the proposed Usenge Pier Phase I in Siaya County on Tuesday. Kenya Shipyards Limited is implementing the project for the Kenya Ports Authority, with Phase I covering site clearance, land reclamation, a 520-metre perimeter wall, a 200-metre jetty and landscaping over six months.
Kenya Shipyards Limited marked five years in business with regional events in Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi from 26 to 29 September. The yard said it has delivered the locally built MV Uhuru II wagon ferry, completed naval refits and built patrol boats, tugboats and ferries over that period.
