Vietnam Ship Repair published a 2026 ranking of the five largest container shipping companies by capacity and fleet size. MSC tops the list with about 7.3 million TEU and about 1,000 ships, followed by Maersk, CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping and Hapag-Lloyd.
VietNam Shiprepair completed a punctured tank top repair on a Panamax bulk carrier at Quy Nhon Anchorage after cargo fell back into the hold during loading and caused structural damage. The work was carried out under NKK Class supervision with NKK-approved steel, certified welding procedures and NKK-certified welders.
VietNam Shiprepair completed an overhaul of windlass block valves on a Capesize bulk carrier at Quy Nhon Port. The work, carried out under CCS Class supervision, replaced components that did not meet technical requirements and restored leak-free operation, the yard said.
VietNam Shiprepair said it completed a full replacement of a rubber feeder conveyor belt on a wood chips bulk carrier at Dung Quat Port. The vessel is classed by NKK, and the work was carried out under the direct supervision of the shipowner using the hot bonding method.
VietNam Shiprepair said it completed steel work on a 7-hold ABS-classed cargo vessel at Van Phong Anchorage, replacing a damaged deck plate section and the on-deck fire-fighting pipeline. The yard said the job was carried out under ABS surveyor supervision and finished without affecting the vessel’s schedule.
VietNam Shiprepair said it replaced a seized single sheave on a deck crane at Cua Lo Port on 10 March 2026. The repair was completed within a tight timeframe and the vessel resumed operations without delay, according to the yard.
VietNam Shiprepair replaced the upper rudder stock bearing on a small tanker at Cai Mep Port on 6 February 2026. The work was carried out under RINA surveyor supervision and, the yard said, finished on a tight schedule with no operational delay.
VietNam Shiprepair said it repaired a fractured deck crane jib at Ho Chi Minh Anchorage on 30 December 2025. The job used 10mm AH36 steel, NKK-approved welders and full NKK supervision, and the company said it finished with zero schedule disruption.
VietNam Shiprepair said it completed a full overhauling of a VTR304 turbocharger for a Panamax bulk carrier at Cai Mep Port on 29 December 2025. The company said the work was finished without delaying the vessel’s schedule and that the job complied with IACS and IMO standards under NK supervision.
Hai Ha M&S repaired a distorted starboard gangway ladder on a ship at Cam Pha anchorage after heavy weather southwest of the Aleutian Islands. The crew said the damage included a 7cm drop, a broken column and cracked steps that could not be fixed on board.
Vietnam Ship Repair reported an in-water survey on the tanker PUTNAM, IMO 9444950, at Hai Phong Port, Vietnam, on 31 October 2020. The inspection found heavily fouled sea chest grating, a missing rope guard section, propeller damage and fouling on the rudder.
Vietnam Ship Service says it offers underwater work and ship repair services at Cai Mep Port, including hull cleaning, welding, engine overhauls and hydraulic repairs. The company also lists marine services at ports and anchorages along Vietnam’s coast, from Vung Tau to Hai Phong.
