China CSSC Holdings has secured a contract worth more than $1bn to build 10 dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers, according to a stock exchange disclosure on 15 September 2026. Guangzhou Shipyard International will build the vessels for an unnamed shipowner, with deliveries due between 2029 and 2031.
COSCO Shipping has launched the 88,000-cbm LPG dual-fuel very large gas carrier Chang Ping Yuan. The vessel can run on LPG or conventional marine fuel and carries a shaft generator designed to cut emissions. COSCO Shipping did not disclose the shipyard where it was built.
Wan Hai Lines has finalized a contract with Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for six 11,000 TEU containerships, each priced at between USD 118 million and USD 124 million. The order, made with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), was first announced on 12 Aug 2026 and is now confirmed under contract. The ships will have dual-fuel methanol and LNG propulsion and meet EEDI Phase III standards.
Vietnam Ship Repair published a 2026 ranking of the five largest container shipping companies by capacity and fleet size. MSC tops the list with about 7.3 million TEU and about 1,000 ships, followed by Maersk, CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping and Hapag-Lloyd.
