Samsung Heavy Industries has won contracts for six large vessels worth 1.65 trillion won, or $1.2 billion, from an Oceania-based shipowner. The order covers four 200,000-cubic-meter LNG carriers and two crude oil tankers, and takes the yard's commercial ship orders this year to $7.3 billion.
COSCO Shipping has launched the 88,000-cbm LPG dual-fuel very large gas carrier Chang Ping Yuan. The vessel can run on LPG or conventional marine fuel and carries a shaft generator designed to cut emissions. COSCO Shipping did not disclose the shipyard where it was built.
Longship Group has taken delivery of Longpeace, a 6,250 dwt shortsea dry cargo vessel built by GS Projects and Ship and Steelbuilding (SAS). The ship is the third in an eight-vessel series and has already started trading on Longship’s Baltic Sea routes.
HD Hyundai Samho has delivered Jane Maersk, its first Very Large Ammonia Carrier, to Maersk Tankers in a shipyard handover. The 93,000 cbm vessel left the yard without cargo aboard. The delivery takes Samho’s VLAC backlog to 22 vessels valued at 2.55 billion US dollars.
Incat has been named the 2026 Tasmanian Exporter of the Year after winning two honours at the Tasmanian Export Awards. The Hobart shipbuilder took the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials Award for three 129-metre battery-electric ferries under construction for Danish operator Molslinjen, then received the top award of the night.
Hubei province has signed batch construction agreements for 89 battery-swapping bulkers, moving the inland sector from individual demonstration ships to series production. The package covers 29 vessels of 10,000 dwt, 20 of 5,000 dwt and 40 of 3,000 dwt, all developed under provincial guidance led by Huadian Yangtze (Hubei) Smart Energy.
Centrofin Management has placed its first containership order, booking two 6,000 TEU vessels at China’s Hengli Heavy Industry in July 2026. Shipbrokers said the ships are due for delivery in the first half of 2028, with no price or technical details disclosed.
Wan Hai Lines has finalized a contract with Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for six 11,000 TEU containerships, each priced at between USD 118 million and USD 124 million. The order, made with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), was first announced on 12 Aug 2026 and is now confirmed under contract. The ships will have dual-fuel methanol and LNG propulsion and meet EEDI Phase III standards.
Svitzer has ordered six additional 29-metre TRAnsverse tugs from Cheoy Lee Shipyards, taking its total order for TRAnsverse 2900 vessels from the yard to 14. The new tugs will each have 80 tonnes of bollard pull and are biofuel-ready, prepared for IMO Tier III requirements and fitted for Firefighting Class 1. Deliveries are due to start in early 2028.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has named Fujian Sailor, the first LNG carrier fitted with Wind Challenger solid sails, ahead of delivery to Chevron under a long-term time charter by the end of September 2026. The 295-metre, 174,000-cubic-metre ship was named on 10 September at Hanwha Ocean’s Geoje yard in South Korea.
World Marine Syndicate says it provides tank cleaning, de-mucking, de-slopping and scrapping-related services for oil tankers and other vessels at Chittagong Port in Bangladesh. The company also lists ship chandling, technical repair, cargo handling and marine supply work from Chittagong and other Bangladeshi ports.
