Advantage Tankers has ordered four 50,000 dwt MR product tankers from Guangzhou Shipyard International, according to shipbroking and market sources. Delivery is expected by 2029, and the contract price has not been disclosed. The order is the Swiss tanker owner and operator’s first move into the MR segment.
The global newbuilding orderbook stood at 7,802 ships, or 501,265,487 dwt, at the end of August 2026, according to New-Ships.com. The database logged 258 new orders and 65 vessel deliveries during the month. Tankers led the book with 2,024 ships on order, followed by container ships with 1,719 and bulk carriers with 1,567.
