ISA Yachts has unveiled Essence 82m, the third project in its ISA Large Yacht Collection. The 82-metre design is for a yacht of about 2,250 GT, with exterior and interior by Barcelona-based Igor Lobanov Studio and naval architecture by ISA Yachts.
J Ocean Heavy Industries signed letters of intent with an Oceania-based shipowner for six tankers, lifting its planned construction backlog to 10 vessels. The orders come as the company pursues the acquisition of Gunsan Shipyard in South Korea and works through follow-up procedures on an earlier asset transfer agreement with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
Italian product tanker owner Augusta Due has signed a contract for three 40,800 dwt oil and chemical tankers to be built in China. The order was placed with Anhui Port & Shipping Sealand Equipment, part of Tongling Port and Shipping Group, and neither pricing nor delivery dates were disclosed.
Navantia has delivered the 87-metre offshore patrol vessel Moulay Hassan I to the Royal Moroccan Navy. The ship was built at the San Fernando shipyard in the Bay of Cádiz, and the programme generated more than one million working hours and supported about 1,100 direct, indirect and induced jobs.
Maersk has confirmed orders for 26 large containerships, each with 18,600 teu capacity and dual-fuel engines able to run on LNG. Deliveries are scheduled across 2029 and 2030, but the carrier has not named the shipyards or disclosed contract values. The 26 ships add 483,600 teu to Maersk’s orderbook.
CULines signed a contract with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding on 16 September 2026 for two 14,000 TEU containerships. It is the Chinese carrier's first newbuilding order for vessels above 10,000 TEU. The ships add owned tonnage at the top end of its fleet after earlier charter and newbuild moves this year.
Exmar has marked steel cutting for its first Suezmax tanker at DaeHan Instrument Co., Ltd in South Korea. The project takes the Belgian group back into tanker construction more than 20 years after its last tanker delivery, the FLANDRE.
Saronic Technologies has won a U.S. Navy contract to build Landing Craft Utility vessels under a firm fixed-price agreement structured through an Other Transaction Authority. The work will be the first construction project at Port Alpha, the company’s planned shipyard in Brownsville, Texas, where it expects to start building LCUs in 2028 and begin deliveries in 2029.
MB92 has argued that connected technologies could reduce the uncertainty that makes superyacht refit seasons so compressed, even if they do not change when yachts enter yards. The group’s recent report says better data, digital tools and predictive maintenance could shift work from short yard windows to more continuous lifecycle management.
Alubat said it has equipped eight OVNI yachts with electric propulsion after a client asked in 2023 for an electric-powered build. The yard is now describing BellMarine propulsion, 48V architecture, LiFePO4 batteries, solar panels and a generator as part of a broader onboard energy system for its long-range cruisers.
The jack-up BUXENUS and the offshore tug EAS have arrived at Astilleros San Enrique in Vigo for maintenance and repair work. The BUXENUS measures 42 metres by 30 metres, carries four lifting legs over 50 metres long and a 370-tonne Hitachi EX1900 excavator, while the EAS has 76 tonnes of bollard pull.
Compagnie Maritime Nantaise, a Sogestran subsidiary, has ordered a hybrid ro-ro vessel from Guangzhou Shipyard International for European space cargo. The ship, due for delivery in 2030, will carry satellites, launch vehicles and other cargo for the European space industry. French naval architect VPLP is handling the design. The vessel will have three automated OceanWings rigid sails, a ro-ro deck, a controlled-environment compartment for space-related cargoes and a flexible open deck.
