Vietnam Shiprepair says in-water propeller cleaning and polishing can restore propulsion efficiency while a vessel remains afloat. The company says the work removes marine growth, reduces fuel consumption and avoids dry-docking, with teams operating from Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau.
Austal USA has won a $10.8 million Navy contract for emergent maintenance drydocking availability of USS Oakland (LCS 24). The work will be carried out at Austal USA’s newly certified floating dry dock at its San Diego waterfront ship repair facility.
Greek market sources have identified Dynagas as the previously unnamed Oceania-based owner behind a four-vessel LNG carrier order at Samsung Heavy Industries worth about KRW1.41trn ($1.05bn). The contract covers four 200,000 cu m LNG carriers for delivery by September 2029 and marks a shift in yard for George Procopiou’s large-scale LNG newbuilding programme.
Dynacom Tankers Management has committed close to $1 billion in fresh newbuilding orders at Hengli Heavy Industry in China. The latest tranche takes its orderbook at the Dalian yard to more than 30 vessels, including up to 20 VLCCs, nine Suezmax tankers and VLACs, with deliveries set through 2029.
André M and GAS CORAL were named in China on 16 September as the country’s first ammonia-dual-fuel LPG/liquid-ammonia carriers. The 25,000-m3 ships were designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute and built by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for Tianjin Southwest Shipping. André M will become China’s first ammonia-fueled gas carrier classed by CCS when delivered.
Bayraktar Shipping Group signed a contract on 2 September in Hamburg for a series of 1,800 TEU container feeder newbuildings with China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard Co., Ltd. The order was described by the group as part of its fleet renewal programme, but no number of vessels or delivery schedule was disclosed. Erhan Bayraktar represented the company at the signing. Bayraktar said the deal involved the next generation of the family-run shipping group.
Palumbo Superyachts said it launched five yachts in 2026 and has 20 more under construction, with an order book worth about €1 billion. The group also pointed to a 100-metre pipeline, the acquisition of the Ortona shipyard, new facilities in Ancona and expanded services through Palumbo Superyachts Atelier and ART.
Steerprop will supply the complete main propulsion package for a new Swedish icebreaker being built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea, for the Swedish Maritime Administration. The vessel will carry two 7,100 kW CRP azimuth propulsors and one 7,000 kW pulling azimuth propulsor, with delivery of the equipment due in the second quarter of 2028.
Alubat says aluminium sailing yachts should carry hanging sacrificial anodes at port, fitted at the bow and stern when the boat is left for days or weeks in one place. The yard says it designed the system into the boat from the outset, with fittings at the forepeak and by the bathing ladder for quick stowage and use.
Alubat is offering a 2018 Cigale 16 for €700,000. The 54ft aluminium cruiser, designed by Marc Lombard, is a three-cabin version with insulation and heating, built for extreme-latitude sailing.
Alubat has put the 2001 OVNI 435 Folazur on view in Les Sables d’Olonne. The 100% aluminium cruiser, built to Philippe Briand plans, is now at the yard’s REFIT workshop for a full check, reconditioning and repainting.
Harland & Wolff has completed installation of 11 cranes from County Down supplier Walter Watson Ltd as it prepares to build three Fleet Solid Support ships for the armed forces. The cranes cost £1.5 million and form part of a £98.5 million modernisation and recapitalisation of the Belfast yard under Navantia UK. The final unit, a 20-metre semi-Goliath gantry crane, was commissioned at the end of August.
