Maersk has confirmed orders for 26 large containerships, each with 18,600 teu capacity and dual-fuel engines able to run on LNG. Deliveries are scheduled across 2029 and 2030, but the carrier has not named the shipyards or disclosed contract values. The 26 ships add 483,600 teu to Maersk’s orderbook.
Incat chairman Robert Clifford said Tasmania is well placed to capture demand for large electric ferries after returning from the Shippax Conference in Genoa. He pointed to the yard’s Hull 096, the world’s largest battery-electric ship, and its deliveries for a Danish operator as evidence of growing interest in lightweight electric shipbuilding.
Oma Baatbyggeri AS delivered newbuilding 545, FOB SWATH 10, to Offshore Windservice A/S on 9 November in Stord. The 32-metre wind turbine boat is the third Crew Transfer Vessel in the series handed over to the Danish operator, under a contract signed in May 2019.
