Schiffswerft Hermann Barthel
Schiffswerft Hermann Barthel GmbH is a family-run German shipyard in Derben, Saxony-Anhalt, founded in 1799 and now run by the sixth generation of the Lösche/Barthel family. The yard builds new vessels and carries out conversions and repairs, covering the process from design through to launch with its own CAD engineering department and around 30 production staff. Its facilities include two covered shipbuilding halls and renewed slipways that can take vessels up to 80 metres in length. The company states that it applies ISO 9001:2015 quality management and has carried out projects supported by EU regional development and social funds.

Schiffswerft Hermann Barthel GmbH is a medium-sized German shipbuilding yard based in Derben, Saxony-Anhalt. Founded in 1799 by Friedrich Lösche, the yard began with wooden vessels of 50–100 tons, added steel shipbuilding from 1890, was nationalised in 1972 as part of VEB Schiffsreparaturen Berlin, and was reacquired by Hermann Barthel after German reunification in 1990. Since then the site has been rebuilt step by step, and the yard reports more than 100 ships completed, repaired or modernised. The current managing director, Dipl.-Ing. Hermann Barthel, is the sixth shipbuilder of the Lösche/Barthel family.

The yard works with long-standing subcontractors and suppliers in electrical engineering and electronics (IEA Genthin, E&M Engel & Meier), navigation systems (Alphatron Marine), plate cutting (Genthiner Stahl- und Maschinenbau, SGB Ingenieur- und Stahlbau), insulation, joinery, floor coverings and curtains, painting and corrosion protection, bow thrusters (ABS Hydraulics, Side-Power/Jabsco) and survey systems (Kongsberg Maritime, Nautilus Marine Service, Atlas Hydrographic).

The company recruits technical project managers, production managers, work-preparation engineers, welders, construction mechanics/shipbuilders and heating and sanitary installers, and trains apprentices as construction mechanics specialising in shipbuilding.
