Gisan Shipyard

Gisan Shipyard is a Turkish shipbuilding and ship repair yard in Tuzla, Istanbul, tracing its origins to a small repair workshop opened on the Golden Horn in 1960 and relocated to Tuzla in 1982. The yard builds steel commercial vessels up to around 25,000–26,000 DWT on two slipways, including dry cargo ships, bulk carriers, chemical and product tankers, tugs and dredgers, and states it has delivered 67 vessels totalling 314,400 DWT between 1982 and 2019. Repair, maintenance, docking and conversion work is carried out using an 8,000-tonne floating dock and covered workshops, with a stated capacity of 400,000 DWT per year. The company holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certification, with the quality certificate issued by ABS Quality.

Gisan Shipyard

Gisan Shipyard (Gisan Tersanesi) is a shipbuilding and ship repair yard in Tuzla, Istanbul. Its roots go back to 1960, when Mehmet Oyar opened a small repair workshop on the Golden Horn; all activities moved to Tuzla in 1982. Since then the company reports more than 65 newbuildings and over 300 vessels repaired, and states that around 70 ships per year have been repaired at the yard since 2012. It operates an integrated management system covering ISO 9001:2015 (certified by ABS Quality), ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Services

  • Newbuilding of steel vessels up to 25,000 DWT, 150 m length and 22 m beam on the building slipways (stated capacity up to 26,000 DWT)
  • Ship repair, maintenance and docking, with capacity of 400,000 DWT per year (40–50 vessels)
  • Conversion and modernisation projects, including passenger and river vessels, livestock carriers and platform support vessels
  • Special projects such as floating docks, barges, yachts and river cruise/restaurant boats

  • CNC cutting bed 6 m x 20 m; hydraulic presses of 450 t, 400 t and 180 t
  • Compressors, 7,350 KVA transformer capacity and 550 KVA generator
  • Annual steel processing capacity stated at 28,747 tonnes with 508 people including subcontractors
