Schiffswerft Diedrich hosted members of the Hafen- und Wirtschaftsvereinigung des Landkreises Leer at its yard during the “Hereinspaziert” event series on 21 May 2026. About 30 guests toured the site and saw a new bridge being installed on the vessel Hansataucher 01.
SPD state parliament member Nico Bloem visited Schiffswerft Diedrich in Oldersum on 5 May and was briefed on the yard’s current workload. The yard said it has more enquiries than capacity and is focused on repair, conversion and maintenance work for coastal and island operators and offshore clients.
The Tenenge-Enseada consortium launched the 27th ore barge for LHG Mining on 1 June in Maragogipe, Bahia. The vessel is part of a 400-barge programme split among four shipyards in Brazil’s North and Northeast, with Enseada building 80 of them.
Austal USA has received three 2025 safety awards from the Shipbuilders Council of America and American Equity Underwriters. The Mobile, Alabama yard said the recognitions bring its total number of safety-related awards to 32. It is among a select group of shipyards nationwide to be recognised by SCA in both safety categories.
Estaleiro Mauá held a community event at the Centro Cultural Marcelo Decolores in Ponta d’Areia on the last weekend of May. The session, titled “A Força de Trabalho – Foco nas Pessoas e Memória Oral da Ponta D’Areia,” closed the yard’s Worker’s Month program and focused on oral history and the people behind the local shipbuilding industry.
The S/S Wilfred Sykes left Fraser Shipyards in Superior, Wisconsin, after a round of TLC and hull repairs. Fraser said Central Marine Logistics again chose the yard for work on one of its vessels.
Oma Baatbyggeri delivered hull No. 553, M/F Seiland, to Torghatten on May 13, 2026. The ferry is one of two electrically powered catamaran ferries ordered in August 2024 for routes in Finnmark.
Rivergate Marina and Shipyard marked its 20th anniversary with a VIP industry dinner on 20 May at Mamasan restaurant in Broadbeach. Co-owners Judy Brinsmead AM, Bob Hill and Tom Hill hosted guests including tenants, captains, suppliers and supporters. Brinsmead said the yard opened in 2006 after six years of planning and construction.
Austal USA has added Michael Pruitt, Michael Oberdorf and Andrew Hinkebein to its senior leadership team. Pruitt will serve as vice president of surface ship programs, Oberdorf as vice president of submarine programs, and Hinkebein as director of state and local government relations.
General Dynamics NASSCO christened and launched the USNS Thurgood Marshall (T-AO 211) in San Diego on 4 June. The ship is the seventh vessel in the U.S. Navy’s T-AO fleet oiler program and the fourth still under construction at the yard, which has already delivered five ships in the class.
STARLING FLEET and its team led by Alexander Nothegger received an ESG Shipping Award in Athens. Concordia Damen said it designed and built the EPIC Class river cruise vessels, including Century Star, that it described as dual-fuel-ready and certified to Green Award Gold Standard.
San Enrique has bought two cargo platforms to move large blocks, each able to handle structures of up to 260 tonnes and 15 x 7 metres. The yard also has three vessels in for repair, including the 105-metre cable layer BOLD MAVERICK, the 26-metre WHITE STAR and the fishing vessel IGUELDO.
