Shipyard
The Tenenge-Enseada consortium launched the 27th ore barge for LHG Mining on 1 June in Maragogipe, Bahia. The vessel is part of a 400-barge programme split among four shipyards in Brazil’s North and Northeast, with Enseada building 80 of them.
Enseada said it completed two barge loadings for LHG Mining, with 13 units shipped in January and six more in March. The barges are being built by the Consórcio Barcaças do Paraguaçu, which includes Enseada and Tenenge.
Estaleiro Enseada delivered the first batch of 13 ore barges built for Lhg Mining during a visit by Bahia governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, senator Jaques Wagner and state secretaries on 26 January. The project is part of an order for up to 80 barges of 2,900 tonnes each and has been linked by the yard to around 600 direct jobs and up to 900 indirect jobs.
