Incat completed the rollback of Hull 102 at its Prince of Wales Bay shipyard on 3 July, advancing construction of a 129-metre battery-electric ferry for Danish operator Molslinjen. The vessel is one of three being built for the operator and will be fitted with passenger deck superstructures next.
Bollinger Shipyards has reached final contract terms with the U.S. Coast Guard to begin production on the Arctic Security Cutter program. The yard said the agreement advances the program and will use a design already selected by close allies and an established supply chain.
Astander said it has completed a cybersecurity improvement project backed by the CIBERREG programme. The yard said the work strengthened network security, endpoint protection, secure remote access, threat monitoring and incident detection, and included a grant contribution of 2997,48€.
Astilleros San Enrique has sent the Paiporta floating solar platform to Valencia, where it is due to arrive in about two weeks. The 1 MW pre-commercial PV-bos unit was built for BlueNewables with Naturgy and is the first floating solar installation at sea in Spain at this scale. A second platform is already under construction at the Vigo yard.
CMN has baptised and launched the fishing trawler Saint-Paul Gilbert at Cherbourg after the vessel arrived unfinished in June 2025. The ship is now entering trials, with delivery to the client scheduled for the end of July if tests go as planned.
Naval Group chief executive Pierre-Éric Pommellet appeared on BFM Business on 26 June, where he discussed export contracts for FDI frigates with Sweden and Greece and submarine deals with Indonesia and the Netherlands. He also referred to French programmes including the SNLE 3G and the new-generation aircraft carrier, and to the market conditions facing naval defence.
Grandweld Shipyards has added a large-frame CNC Vertical Machining Center to its workflow in Dubai Maritime City. The yard said the machine lets it handle larger marine components in-house instead of sending them to outside shops.
Cantiere delle Marche has launched Ammonite, a 33.07-metre Nauta Air 110 explorer yacht for Marcus Blackmore. The launch was the yard’s fourth in four months, and the vessel has a steel hull, a 2.35-metre draught and a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
Joe Starck will retire as CEO of The Great Lakes Towing Company on July 2, 2026, after 35 years with the business. Gregg Thauvette and Tom Rigolo will continue to lead the towing and shipyard divisions, while CFO Ken Kure remains in post.
La Ciotat Shipyards held its first Matinée de l’Emploi on 27 June, drawing more than 500 candidates to meet companies working in yacht maintenance and refit. The event was organised with around 30 specialist schools and local employment bodies ahead of the September refit season.
Rear Admiral Guillaume Delaroche visited CMN on Friday with a delegation including officials from the French maritime administration, the CPPE and the DGA. The yard said the visit covered its current projects, industrial activities and discussion of maritime safety and military verification for vessels under construction.
Costas Kadis, the European commissioner for fisheries and oceans, and Catherine Chabaud, France’s minister delegate for the sea and fisheries, visited CMN’s Cherbourg site on 29 June. The yard showed them a fishing-vessel project and the FloWatt tidal power programme, which includes six HydroQuest turbines to be built in Cherbourg.
