Grandweld Shipyards completed a complete main engine overhaul on an oil tanker at Khorfakkan Anchorage, with the vessel afloat in open water. The work included renewal of all main bearings, turbocharger overhaul and inspection, governor servicing and calibration, full decarbonisation, and inspection, measurement and reassembly.
Grandweld Shipyards has added a large-frame CNC Vertical Machining Center to its workflow in Dubai Maritime City. The yard said the machine lets it handle larger marine components in-house instead of sending them to outside shops.
Grandweld Shipyards has commissioned a new hydraulic bench test machine and a hydraulic flushing machine for its in-house maintenance and repair work. The bench test machine handles hydraulic components at 100 to 600 L/min at 300 bar, while the flushing machine works up to 650 L/min at 150 bar and at 30 to 60°C. The yard said the equipment will let it test, certify and flush hydraulic systems in-house.
Grandweld Shipyards has set out its process for propeller shaft straightening and weather calibration, saying the work is needed to keep shafts within classification tolerances and avoid drivetrain wear. The yard said the process uses runout mapping, controlled straightening and final verification, and that its calibration accounts for Arabian Gulf operating conditions.
Grandweld Shipyards has delivered GASAB 1, a 25-metre fast crew boat built for Arabian Gulf Shipping Company, GAC Saudi Arabia. The vessel can carry 36 offshore personnel and six crew, and is registered under the Saudi flag with Dammam as its home port.
Grandweld Shipyards said it completed a three-month voyage repair job on a vessel that stayed fully operational throughout the work. A four-man riding squad fabricated, installed and commissioned an LSFO bunker pipeline system while the ship sailed across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and India.
Grandweld Shipyards said it completed a full-scope refurbishment for one of its regional clients within a compressed turnaround window. The project covered hull, propulsion, cooling, piping, deck machinery, accommodations and other systems, and the vessel returned to service at the end of the schedule.
Grandweld Shipyards said its 2025 sustainability report shows carbon emissions fell by 920 tonnes and coal use dropped by 374 tonnes after it installed a solar energy system at the yard. The Dubai yard also said it built and delivered nine aluminium vessels and completed several repair jobs in 2025, while 13 new vessels are now under construction for delivery in 2026.
Grandweld Shipyards said it completed the 2025 Special Survey of GALAXY and carried out a full rebranding paint job alongside the required work. The yard said the vessel emerged with a refreshed external identity after blasting, painting and other mechanical, structural and system tasks were coordinated in the same programme.
