Sata Shipbuilding has started construction of the first Arctic Security Cutter icebreaker for the United States Coast Guard in Pori. The first two vessels in the five-ship program will be built at Helsinki Shipyard with Sata support, with delivery of the first ship due in 2028.
Bollinger Shipyards, Rauma Marine Constructions, Seaspan Shipyards and Aker Arctic have formed a strategic partnership to pursue the U.S. Coast Guard’s Arctic Security Cutter program. The group says it would aim to deliver the first vessel within 36 months of award.
Derecktor Shipyards will christen the rebuilt passenger vessel Hazel N. Dukes at its Mamaroneck yard on May 6, 2025. The 57-foot, 16-foot-beam boat was rebuilt with Paradise Express Ferry and Tucker Marine and fitted with rebuilt Detroit Diesel 8V92 turbo engines, Raymarine navigation gear and updated safety systems.
Stevens Towing Shipyard completed the dry-docking of a 1,745-ton cutter suction dredge at Yonges Island and said the vessel was the largest it has drydocked to date. The yard said the job took 45 days on Railway III, which has an 1,800 LT capacity, before the dredge was moved to a floating dock to finish topside work.
Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding has delivered its first crew transfer vessel, a 88.5-foot all-aluminum catamaran, to Patriot Offshore Maritime Services. The CTV will carry 24 offshore workers and equipment for offshore wind construction and O&M work on the U.S. East Coast.
