Derecktor Shipyards has agreed to build R/V Brewer, a 50-foot by 23-foot aluminum research catamaran for SoundWaters in Stamford, Connecticut. The vessel, designed with Chartwell Marine, will support education and research work on Long Island Sound and is intended to carry 2 crew and 35 passengers.
Derecktor Shipyards has delivered CREST’s DC1, a 12-meter offshore crew vessel built at its New York shipyard and developed with Chartwell Marine and Volvo Penta. The catamaran is certified to USCG Subchapter T and is fitted with twin Volvo Penta IPS D6-500 systems.
Derecktor Shipyards has launched a semi-custom vessel model called DC1, aimed at research, ferry, patrol, fire response and commercial workboat markets. The yard says the platform is based on a proven hull family and can be fitted with diesel, hybrid or electric propulsion, along with mission-specific layouts and equipment.
Derecktor Shipyards will christen the rebuilt passenger vessel Hazel N. Dukes at its Mamaroneck yard on May 6, 2025. The 57-foot, 16-foot-beam boat was rebuilt with Paradise Express Ferry and Tucker Marine and fitted with rebuilt Detroit Diesel 8V92 turbo engines, Raymarine navigation gear and updated safety systems.
