The Association of Maryland Pilots has received a new pilot boat from Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation. The all-aluminum Baltimore Class launch is a sistership to the vessel delivered to the association four years ago and is built for harbor service in Baltimore.
Boston Harbor’s MV Outward Bound has returned to Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding for a mid-life refit, with redelivery planned for spring 2026. The 64-foot, 140-passenger ferry will get a new shaft, propeller and main engine, along with electrical, piping and hull work.

Delta Launch Services has ordered two new Venice Class pilot launches from Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding for the Mississippi River. The first of the 44.3-foot aluminium boats is due for delivery in 2026. The design is based on the yard’s Resilient class and will be fitted with twin Caterpillar C-9.3 engines and Hamilton HTX-30 waterjets.
The Virginia Pilot Association has taken delivery of a new high-speed pilot boat from Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding. The 58-foot all-aluminum launch is the tenth vessel the Somerset, Mass., yard has built for the Virginia pilots since 1983.
Charleston Branch Pilots have returned the 65-foot pilot boat Fort Ripley to Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding for repowering and refit after 10 years of service in Charleston. The Somerset, Massachusetts yard will install three Volvo Penta IPS 1050 propulsion systems and a Seakeeper 40 gyro stabilizer.
The Pilots’ Association of the Bay and River Delaware has taken delivery of a new pilot boat from Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation. The 53.6-foot all-aluminum launch is the association’s fourth Chesapeake Class boat and eleventh pilot boat from the Somerset, Mass., yard since 1957.
Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding has delivered its first crew transfer vessel, a 88.5-foot all-aluminum catamaran, to Patriot Offshore Maritime Services. The CTV will carry 24 offshore workers and equipment for offshore wind construction and O&M work on the U.S. East Coast.
The Government of Bermuda’s Marine and Port Services has taken delivery of the 700-passenger ferry Bermudian after a major refit at Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding in Somerset, Mass. The yard said the 37-year-old vessel was rebuilt to extend its life by 15 years and improve efficiency, environmental performance and reliability.
Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding has delivered CHELSEA, the first of the Boston Pilots’ two Chesapeake-class pilot boats to undergo a comprehensive refit. The 53-foot all-aluminum launch was rebuilt with new engines, shafts, propellers, electronics and other systems, and the yard said the vessel should gain another 20 years of service.
