Pharung Shipyard (Công ty Đóng tàu Phà Rừng) is a Vietnamese shipbuilding and ship repair company in Hai Phong and a member company of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC). Originally built with Finnish government aid as the Pha Rung ship repair yard, it began operating on 25 March 1984 and added newbuilding to its activities from 2002. The yard builds oil/chemical tankers, bulk carriers, general cargo ships, fishing vessels, tugs and patrol craft for Vietnamese and foreign owners, including series of 6,500 DWT and 13,000 DWT oil/chemical tankers for Korean clients. It also carries out repair and conversion work, steel structure fabrication, and hires out cranes, welding machines and other yard equipment and facilities.

Pharung Shipyard (Công ty Đóng tàu Phà Rừng) is a shipbuilding and ship repair company based in Hai Phong, Vietnam, and a member of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC). The yard grew out of the Pha Rung ship repair plant, built from 1979 under a Vietnam–Finland government cooperation programme with Finnish grant aid and starting operations on 25 March 1984. After decades focused on repair work for owners from Russia, Ukraine, Germany, South Korea, Cuba and Greece, the company expanded into newbuilding from 2002 and has since delivered series of tankers and cargo ships for domestic and export customers. It has applied an ISO 9000 quality management system certified by DNV since 2000.

  • Total site area of 112 ha with hull, pipe and machinery workshops, blasting and painting halls and assembly areas
  • Dry dock 157 x 27 x 10 m; newbuilding up to 17,000 DWT and repair of vessels to 17,000 DWT (about 35 vessels/year)
  • Floating dock 115 x 23 x 13.6 m for vessels up to 10,000 DWT (about 30 vessels/year)
  • Building slipway 270 x 32 m with 200 t gantry crane, for newbuildings up to 40,000 DWT
  • Five fitting-out and repair quays, the longest 400 m, receiving vessels up to 34,000 DWT
  • Workforce of about 950, with management trained in Finland, Poland and Japan and welders certified 3G/4G/6G to VR, KR, NK, GL-DNV and BV
