Etablissements Rousseau

Etablissements Rousseau (SA Rousseau) is a family-run inland shipyard founded in 1903 on the banks of the Loing at Veneux-les-Sablons in Seine-et-Marne, France, now led by fourth-generation owner Jean-Marc Rousseau with a team of around 12 people. The yard handles custom newbuilding, conversion, fitting-out, repair and maintenance of steel and aluminium vessels, including lengthening or shortening hulls, plating and bottom renewal, propulsion and shaft lines, rudders, hydraulics, electrics, plumbing, HVAC, insulation and hull blasting and painting. It also sells and installs marine equipment and chandlery and is an agent for Baudouin, Caterpillar and Iveco engines. Work covers commercial barges, pushers, passenger, hotel and restaurant boats, houseboats and pleasure craft up to 30 metres, with teams travelling throughout France and overseas.

Founded in 1903 by François Rousseau and now in its fourth family generation, SA Rousseau (Chantier naval Rousseau) is an inland shipyard on the Loing at Veneux-les-Sablons, Seine-et-Marne. Originally building and repairing wooden barges, the yard moved to steel hull repair in the 1950s, added marine and general mechanical engineering, opened a naval and industrial design office in 1994, and began new naval construction in 2005. The company is led by Jean-Marc Rousseau with technical director Benoît Douillard and a team of 12 covering turning and milling, boilermaking and welding, hydraulics, electrics, plumbing, painting and naval engineering. All work is carried out in-house, and the team also travels throughout France, overseas territories and abroad.

Facilities

1,800 m² enclosed hangar plus large outdoor area, with boilermaking, general machining and assembly workshops
Machining: lathes to 6,500 mm length and 1,600 mm diameter, CNC and conventional milling, boring machine for parts to 15 tonnes, slotting to 2 m diameter, grinding
CNC plasma and oxy-fuel cutting up to 4,200 x 6,600 mm in steel, stainless and aluminium; press brake, shear, TIG/MIG-MAG and arc welding
Two 10-tonne overhead cranes; slipway for vessels 55 m x 7 m and floating dock for vessels to 80 tonnes
