Sail Lanka hosted the BELGOLUX Economic Mission to Sri Lanka aboard its catamaran Ocean Diamond in June, with diplomatic representatives and ambassadors from Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the European Union and Sri Lanka attending. The reception took place against Colombo’s coastline and sunset and was used for networking, dialogue and discussion of collaboration.
H.E. Didier Vanderhasselt, Belgium’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, visited Ocean Voyager and Seatek in Southern Sri Lanka in June, during his final official trip to the country. The tour covered the companies’ facilities in the Koggala BOI Zone and at Kathaluwa-Ahangama, with Belgian officials and Sea Leisure Yachting Group’s group CEO also attending.
Ocean Voyager International received the Presidential Export Award for Boat and Pleasure Craft Building from the Sri Lanka Export Development Board in the final months of 2025. The award covered the 24-25 year and was presented at the Presidential Export Awards ceremony in the first week of December, when General Manager Saman accepted it for the company. It was the second time the builder had received the honour.
Sea Leisure Yachting Group has delivered the Pulse 55 Sport to Serendib Watersport Center for operations in Negombo. The RIB was built at the group’s Solar Impulse yard in Kabalana and can reach up to 26 knots with seating for nine passengers.
Sea Leisure Yachting Group said its teams helped evacuate about 30 families in Kotiakumbura during flooding in Sri Lanka this month. The group also delivered food and relief supplies and sent Rigid Inflatable Boats to reach areas cut off by rising water.
Sea Leisure Yachting Group has launched Amber, a 14-metre passenger boat built at its Kait, Jaffna boatyard and designed by Sabrosa Rain Advanced Technologies. The vessel will be operated by Sail Lanka for island-hopping excursions and tours to Delft Island. Amber has a beam of 4.2 metres and a passenger capacity of 70 guests. SLYG said its construction was part of the Building A Future Foundation training curriculum for young Sri Lankans in the Jaffna program.
Sea Leisure Yachting Group said it now operates across boat design and manufacture, chartering, joint ventures and marina management in Sri Lanka. The group also said its training centre in Kabalana trains around 100 youths a year, and it has opened a second centre in Jaffna.
The Building A Future Foundation Training Institute marked its 20th anniversary on 1 November 2024 with a graduation ceremony at the Kabalana Hotel. The class of 2024 comprised 68 graduates, and Pierre Pringiers handed over their diplomas.
