Sail Lanka hosted the BELGOLUX Economic Mission to Sri Lanka aboard its catamaran Ocean Diamond in June, with diplomatic representatives and ambassadors from Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the European Union and Sri Lanka attending. The reception took place against Colombo’s coastline and sunset and was used for networking, dialogue and discussion of collaboration.
H.E. Didier Vanderhasselt, Belgium’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, visited Ocean Voyager and Seatek in Southern Sri Lanka in June, during his final official trip to the country. The tour covered the companies’ facilities in the Koggala BOI Zone and at Kathaluwa-Ahangama, with Belgian officials and Sea Leisure Yachting Group’s group CEO also attending.
Sea Leisure Yachting Group said its teams helped evacuate about 30 families in Kotiakumbura during flooding in Sri Lanka this month. The group also delivered food and relief supplies and sent Rigid Inflatable Boats to reach areas cut off by rising water.
Sea Leisure Yachting Group said it now operates across boat design and manufacture, chartering, joint ventures and marina management in Sri Lanka. The group also said its training centre in Kabalana trains around 100 youths a year, and it has opened a second centre in Jaffna.
