Sea Leisure Yachting Group has launched Amber, a 14-metre passenger boat built at its Kait, Jaffna boatyard and designed by Sabrosa Rain Advanced Technologies. The vessel will be operated by Sail Lanka for island-hopping excursions and tours to Delft Island.
Amber has a beam of 4.2 metres and a passenger capacity of 70 guests. SLYG said its construction was part of the Building A Future Foundation training curriculum for young Sri Lankans in the Jaffna program.
Sea Leisure Yachting Group said it now operates across boat design and manufacture, chartering, joint ventures and marina management in Sri Lanka. The group also said its training centre in Kabalana trains around 100 youths a year, and it has opened a second centre in Jaffna.
The Building A Future Foundation Training Institute marked its 20th anniversary on 1 November 2024 with a graduation ceremony at the Kabalana Hotel. The class of 2024 comprised 68 graduates, and Pierre Pringiers handed over their diplomas.
