Ingalls Shipbuilding

Ingalls Shipbuilding is a division of HII (Huntington Ingalls Industries) that designs, builds and maintains surface warships for the U.S. Navy at its shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Founded in 1938 by Robert Ingersoll Ingalls Sr. on the east bank of the Pascagoula River, it began with commercial ships before moving into Navy work in the 1940s. Today it employs more than 11,000 shipbuilders, is Mississippi's largest manufacturing employer, and is the builder-of-record for Arleigh Burke class (DDG 51) destroyers and America class (LHA 6) large-deck amphibious ships as well as the sole builder of San Antonio class (LPD 17) amphibious ships. It is building multiple ship classes simultaneously, modernizing the Zumwalt class, and performing FF(X) frigate lead yard support.

Ingalls Shipbuilding

Ingalls Shipbuilding is one of three divisions of HII, America's largest shipbuilder and a global all-domain defense provider. Founded in 1938 by Robert Ingersoll Ingalls Sr. on the East Bank of the Pascagoula River in Mississippi, the yard started out building commercial ships before bidding on U.S. Navy work in the 1940s. With more than 11,000 shipbuilders, it is the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economy of Alabama, and describes itself as the largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants.
