Great Lakes Shipyard

Great Lakes Shipyard is the shipbuilding and repair arm of The Great Lakes Group, a diversified marine organization operating on the Great Lakes that also includes The Great Lakes Towing Company, Soo Linehandling Services and other affiliates. The company has always operated a Cleveland-based shipyard, originally on Jefferson Road in the Flats and, since 1952, at its present site in the Old River Bed; it entered the commercial ship repair business in 1983 and later completed a multi-phase expansion project. As both a builder and an operator of its own tug fleet, the yard emphasizes prompt, cost-effective work to the standard it would expect as a vessel owner.
