Glovertown Shipyard
Glovertown Shipyard is a Newfoundland-based shipyard founded in 1977, originally building wooden fishing vessels and specializing in steel construction since 1981. It builds custom steel vessels with a construction capacity up to 120 feet and carries out refits, maintenance, and steel fabrication for the fishing, inshore, and offshore sectors. Additional services include CWB certified and mobile welding, modular fabrication, ship parts fabrication, hot spray galvanizing, mining fabrication support, and industrial laser cleaning of hulls and metal structures. The yard occupies a ten-acre site with marine railways, fabrication shops, laydown areas, and a barge loading dock.
Glovertown Shipyard
Glovertown Shipyard Ltd. began in 1977 in response to demand for wooden fishing vessels, expanding to its present ten-acre site of buildings, piers and launchways in 1979. The yard shifted its focus to steel construction in 1981 and has served the local coastal fishing vessel market since 1986, building a reputation for structural sturdiness and technological advancement. The company continues to diversify into ship maintenance, steel fabrication and offshore-related work, supported by quality control and quality assurance programs. Leadership includes Peter Dean (President) and Marcel Montrose (General Manager).
Services
- New vessel construction: hull fabrication, outfitting, machinery installation, commissioning and sea trials

- Workboats, research vessels and offshore platform work
- Yacht and expedition vessel conversions — for example, the 37.79 m Anne S. Pierce (296 GT, Caterpillar D399 engine), a former scallop dragger and Marine Institute training vessel refitted into an expedition yacht between 2019 and June 2021
- Ski lift tower preparation and painting support (White Hills Ski Resort) using the yard's laser cleaning system
