Fincantieri S.p.A. is an Italian shipbuilding group headquartered in Trieste, describing itself as the heir to over 230 years of Italian naval tradition with more than 7,000 ships built. It designs and builds cruise ships, naval vessels, ferries, offshore and special vessels, and underwater systems, and also supplies ship interiors, systems and components, infrastructure, ship repair and conversion, and after-sales services. The group reports 18 shipyards, over 20,000 employees, revenues of €9.2 billion and a total backlog of €63.2 billion, with 97 ships in its order book. Listed on Borsa Italiana since July 2014, it is the sole supplier for the Italian Navy and a partner to the US Navy and other foreign navies.

Established as a financial company in 1959 to control Italy's main shipyards and transformed into an operating company in 1984, it entered the cruise business in 1990 and has since diversified into mega yachts, ship repair and conversion, systems and components, and — from 2024 — the underwater domain through a dedicated in-house Underwater Hub. The group describes itself as the only global player active in all sectors of high-tech shipbuilding, serving major cruise operators, the Italian Navy as sole supplier, the US Navy and numerous foreign navies, and participating in European defence partnership programmes.
