Ereğli Shipyard is a Turkish newbuilding yard on the Black Sea coast at Ereğli, next to the Ereğli Iron and Steel Works, operating under Med Marine Group. Since 2004 it has built and delivered more than 120 vessels, specialising in chemical tankers from 5,300 to 25,000 DWT and in tugboats from 16 m / 20 tonnes bollard pull up to 42 m / 120 tonnes bollard pull. The yard also builds pilot boats, mooring boats and buoy tender vessels, working to designs from Robert Allan Ltd., SeaTech Solutions, Camarc, Cintranaval and others. Completed tankers have gone to owners in Malta, Canada, Sweden and Germany, and tug deliveries continue on a regular basis.

Ereğli Shipyard

Ereğli Shipyard is an independent newbuilding yard on the Black Sea at Ereğli, Turkey, situated next to the Ereğli Iron and Steel Works and employed by Med Marine Group. Since 2004 it has completed more than 120 vessels, principally chemical tankers and tugboats, for Med Marine's own fleet and for owners in Sweden, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and Mexico. The yard reports itself as self-sufficient from shop blasting and priming through to finishing processes.

Facilities

  • Total yard area of approximately 184,315 sqm, described as one of the largest in Turkey and the biggest by slipway capacity
  • 30,000 sqm of covered high-ceiling steel workshops with overhead cranes
  • CNC plasma cutting hall (1,930 sqm) with an annual steel processing capacity of 32,000 tonnes
  • Panel line of 20 x 140 m plus additional block assembly halls and roughly 120,000 sqm of outdoor assembly area
  • Automatic shotblasting and priming plant; climate-controlled blasting and painting hall of 1,400 sqm (h=19 m)
  • Four slipways, including a 220 x 38 m slipway able to take handymax or panamax size newbuildings
  • Gantry cranes up to 360 t, mobile cranes from 30 t to 400 t, a 240 t heavy load transporter and SPMT units
  • 190 m outfitting quay with 7 m depth, plus sea quay for 2–3 day sea trials
  • Administration, design, planning, procurement offices, dining hall, dormitory and guesthouse facilities
