Alexandria Shipyard (ASY) is an Egyptian shipbuilding, ship repair and heavy engineering yard established in 1962 inside the free zone of Alexandria port, and now affiliated to the Marine Industries & Services Organization owned by the Egyptian Ministry of Defence. The 400,000 m² yard has two inclined building berths, two dry docks, a floating dock, an 800 DWT boat lift and 1,200 m of quays, and states it has built most of the commercial ships of the Egyptian fleet, including the 38,500 TDW bulk carriers Qena/Damietta and Egypt's only oil rig built to date. Current work spans naval vessels such as Gowind 2500 corvettes and MEKO A200 frigates, RoRo cargo ships, tugs, GRP patrol boats, barges and pontoons, alongside ship repair and industrial fabrication for sugar, cement, steel and water treatment plants. The company works to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 and runs its own three-year technical training centre.

Alexandria Shipyard

Founded in 1962 within the free zone of Alexandria port, Alexandria Shipyard Co. (ASY) describes itself as the largest firm in Egypt and the Middle East for ship construction and ship repair. The yard is affiliated to the Marine Industries & Services Organization owned by the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, and covers roughly 400,000 m² with 1,200 m of quays. A major upgrade programme raised annual steel throughput from 4,000 to 40,000 tons and added new block assembly, piping, blasting and painting shops.
