Port Whangarei Marine Centre said it completed more than 150 haul-outs for vessels under 20 metres over the summer, alongside several larger refits. Those included a 65ft Catana catamaran repaint and deck overhaul, and a custom carbon fibre vessel upgraded ahead of an Antarctic voyage.
Port Whangarei Marine Centre has marked 10 years since its first vessel was hauled out on the new 100-tonne travel lift, with the hardstand now operating at full capacity in the summer peak. The centre says it began first haul-out operations on 6 November 2015 and opened officially a month later after a $3 million Stage I development.
Port Whangarei Marine Centre says bookings are filling for the summer haulout and maintenance season as South Pacific cruising yachts head for New Zealand. The yard, part of Oceania Marine Shipyards, is targeting vessels under 20 metres and catamarans, and says it has no multihull surcharge.
