Rauma Marine Constructions completed the hull of the second multi-purpose corvette at the turn of the year. Now the vessel is being prepared for launching this spring as outfitting continues.
Protective coverings have been removed, the yard said, as hull painting progressed. The structure is more visible in its multi-purpose hall. Investments in the yard area and infrastructure will support the launch.
RMC said the heavy-transport ramp completed at the end of 2024 and a specially acquired and modified launch barge will be used again for the upcoming operation. Last spring, those were used for the first time. The first corvette in the series was launched then.
During launching, the vessel is moved along the heavy-transport ramp onto the submerged barge. Then the barge is taken into deeper water and carefully submerged beneath the vessel so it can be set afloat.
In January, production of the fourth multi-purpose corvette began, and the keel-laying ceremony for the third corvette was held the same day. All four vessels are now in production simultaneously.
