Rauma Marine Constructions has completed the hull of the third multi-purpose corvette for Finland’s Squadron 2020 programme. The vessel will now move into outfitting, with launch scheduled later this year. All four corvettes are now under construction at the Rauma shipyard.
Rauma Marine Constructions laid the keel for the fourth Pohjanmaa-class multi-purpose corvette for the Finnish Navy on 4 August. The vessel is the third in assembly, after steel production began in January 2026 and the first two ships were launched in 2025 and 2026.
Rauma Marine Constructions launched the second Pohjanmaa-class multi-purpose corvette for the Finnish Navy on 21 May. The vessel reached launch stage less than a year after keel laying, and all four Squadron 2020 vessels are now under construction.
Rauma Marine Constructions started production of the fourth Pohjanmaa-class multi-purpose corvette for the Finnish Navy on 14 January and laid the keel for the third vessel the same day. All four corvettes in the Squadron 2020 order are now under construction at the Rauma yard, alongside two U.S. icebreakers that are moving toward production start.
Rauma Marine Constructions has won a contract from the U.S. Coast Guard to build two Arctic Security Cutters. The first two vessels will be built at the Rauma shipyard and completed in 2028, with construction starting immediately.
The Spirit of Tasmania V has left Rauma Shipyard for Tasmania, months after being delivered to TT-Line Company PTY Ltd in June. The 212-m RoPax ferry was built for the Bass Strait service between Geelong and Devonport and is the second of two Spirit of Tasmania ferries completed at Rauma.
Finnish Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen and Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson visited Rauma Shipyard on 30 September to see three Pohjanmaa-class corvettes under construction for the Finnish Navy. RMC said the Squadron 2020 project is scheduled for completion in 2029 and could employ up to 3,500 people.
Rauma Marine Constructions cut steel on the third of four Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvettes for the Finnish Navy on 26 August. Three of the Squadron 2020 vessels are now in production, and the first was launched in May 2025.
Rauma Marine Constructions has delivered Spirit of Tasmania V to Australian operator TT-Line, completing the second of two car and passenger ferries ordered from the Finnish yard. RMC said the project is one of the largest single export deals between Finland and Australia and has generated more than 3,500 person-years of work.
Rauma Marine Constructions launched the first multi-purpose corvette for the Finnish Navy’s Squadron 2020 project at Rauma shipyard on 21 May 2025. The yard said the programme remains on schedule, and the second corvette began construction in October 2024 and had its keel laid on 8 May 2025.
