Birdon America has won a firm fixed-price contract to build a Response Boat-Small demonstrator for the United States Coast Guard. The boat will be delivered to a USCG facility in Norfolk, Virginia, or Charleston, South Carolina, for a three-month operational evaluation.
Stevens Towing has promoted Bos Smith to vice president and Kurt Olsen to vice president of shipyard operations, while naming Ross Miller vice president of sales and business development and Captain Ben Peterson vice president of marine operations. President Johnson Stevens said the changes were intended to support the Charleston-based tug and marine transport company’s operations and customer work.
General Dynamics NASSCO–Norfolk won a contract action for maintenance, modernization and repair work on USS Porter (DDG 78). NASSCO–Mayport also secured a year of Planned Maintenance Availabilities for USS Beloit (LCS 29) and USS Cooperstown (LCS 23).
