Estaleiro Kalmar

Estaleiro Kalmar is a wooden boat builder based in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, Brazil, founded in 1982 by Erik and Lars Kreuger and named after the Swedish county from which the family descends. The yard is built around naval joinery, using a laminated wood and epoxy technique brought from the United States by Lars Kreuger, and describes itself as a national reference in the craft. Between 2008 and 2016 the company was directed by Lorena Kreuger. Many of its craftsmen have been with the team for more than 15 years, and clients are invited to follow construction on site through photos, videos and yard visits.

• Cold-moulded and strip-planked laminated wood/epoxy hulls, cabins and interiors

• One-off custom projects developed with yacht designers and architects, including mega yacht interiors
• Joinery and hull painting on steel-hulled vessels, with coordination of subcontracted mechanical, electrical and hydraulic work

• Lobster Boat L35: 10.81 m LOA, 3.22 m beam, 0.91 m draft, 4,500 kg, 300 hp diesel, 18 kn cruise / 22 kn top
