ALUBAT CHANTIER NAVAL

Alubat Chantier Naval is a French yard in Les Sables d'Olonne that has designed, built and sold 100% aluminium blue-water sailing yachts since 1973. Its ranges include the OVNI centreboard cruisers (370, 430, 490, 650), the fast ULDB-derived CIGALE line, now renewed with the lifting-keel CIGALE 15 QR, and an OVNICAT 48 aluminium sailing catamaran under construction. All build stages — metalwork, painting, joinery and technical fit-out — are carried out in-house, and the yard also offers partial or full refit and after-sales work plus brokerage of used OVNI and Cigale boats. More than 1,600 units have left the yard, built to owners' own specifications with naval architects including Philippe Briand, Marc Lombard, Mortain & Mavrikios, CBA and Finot-Conq.

Founded in 1973 at Les Sables d'Olonne on France's Atlantic coast, Alubat Chantier Naval designs, builds and sells sailing yachts constructed entirely in aluminium — hull, deck, roof and cockpit, welded inside and out — for long-distance cruising. The 1978 OVNI 28 was its first aluminium hard-chine integral-centreboard yacht, and 26 models from 25 to 58 feet have followed, with more than 1,600 boats delivered. The yard was taken over in 2014 by Vendée industrial shareholders and since October 2023 has been led by Luc Jurien alongside a management team, with a workforce of around 40 people.
