Bristol Marine published a profile of yard operations worker Josh Rodriguez on February 11, 2026. Rodriguez said he joined the marine industry at 21, first worked in paint, and later moved into yard operations at Bristol Marine after starting at Waterline in Warren. He said he now spends much of his time training newer employees and helping them handle equipment and boats safely.
Bristol Marine published a Q&A with Tony Latella, a Wiscasset, Maine native who works in metal fabrication, winterizations and outboard servicing. Latella said he started in marine welding after high school, later worked at Bath Iron Works and Hodgdon Yachts, and is now taking Yamaha training at Bristol.
Bristol Marine mechanic John Jerome is working on a repower project for the boat Relentless, replacing its old Volvo engines with a pair of new Nanni diesels. The job also includes changing the propellers from 3-blade to 4-blade, after Jerome spent about a day and a half preparing for the engine and transmission removal.
Bristol Marine has highlighted Kim Bubb, who works in customer service and accounts receivable/payable. Bubb, who was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, said she joined without a boating background and has since adapted to the pace of the marine industry.
Jason Carreiro, a Bristol Marine employee from Fall River, MA, said he has worked in the marine industry for more than 20 years. He started with painting, waxing and buffing boat bottoms, later moved into carpentry, and said he has stayed with the yard since Bristol Marine acquired J&J Marine.
Bristol Marine completed maintenance dredging at Wardwell Boatyard in Bristol, Rhode Island, in the winter of 2024/25, increasing the hauling draft to nine feet. The work extends the haul-out window and was said by general manager Greg Bartoszuk to have had minimal environmental impact on Bristol Harbor. The company also reported a new boardwalk at Bowers Shipyard in Somerset, Massachusetts, and pier and wharf work at Samples Shipyard in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and Huckins Yacht in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bristol Marine said its Boothbay Harbor yard is restoring the historic steamboat Katahdin on Moosehead Lake in Greenville, Maine, and is in talks with the owners of Eros for bottom planking replacement. Ross Branch, a shipwright at Samples Shipyard, said the Katahdin work has included deck work, repowering and replacement of the wooden superstructure on her steel hull. He also said the Eros job is expected to start after Eleanor wraps up in March.
Bristol Marine’s shipyard in Boothbay Harbor has partnered with the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum to restore the Eleanor, a replica of one of the ships tied to the Boston Tea Party of 1773. The museum said the vessel needs repair and maintenance and expects it to return to service this spring.
Bristol Marine featured mechanic Kara Aardal, who joined the yard after training at the International IYRS School of Technology and Trades. Aardal said she studied for her captain’s licence during COVID, worked as a launch driver and sailing instructor, and later chose Bristol Marine after visiting the marina as an IYRS student.
Bristol Marine has highlighted Jeff “Duke” Duclos, the foreman of its Somerset Yard metal shop, after nine years with the company. The yard said Duclos has helped shape the shop and has recently overseen hires including Kene Barlow and Aiden Foley.
Bristol Marine published a profile on 3 July of Corporal Alexander Vaz of the United States Marine Corps and MA2 Yusra Vaz of the United States Navy, both relatives of yard office team member Patty Cativo. The piece recounts their deployments on the USS Carter Hall and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, along with promotions, training and awards.
Bristol Marine has launched a Mobile Marine Service from its Bristol, Rhode Island location. The service sends technicians to customers’ locations for maintenance, repairs and check-ups, the yard said.
