Tommi Hakala leads HVAC design work from Helsinki Shipyard’s Turku office

Tommi Hakala is working as lead designer in HVAC at Helsinki Shipyard’s Turku office, coordinating engineering across vessel projects and linking his discipline with project management and production. He is currently involved in the yard’s Arctic Security Cutter program for the United States, after a nearly 20-year career that included ship design consultancies, power plant engineering and subcontractor coordination.

Helsinki Shipyard opens Turku design office with 40 staff

Helsinki Shipyard has built up a Turku design office with more than 40 professionals in less than two years, after setting it up in 2024. The office now handles machinery, HVAC, electrical, interior, hull and deck outfitting work for the yard’s projects, while the wider design organisation totals around 160 people.
