Songoro Marine Workshop
Songoro Marine Transport LTD (Songoro Marine Workshop) is a Tanzanian shipbuilding and ship repair company operating shipyards in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam. Incorporated in 1993 and originally a passenger and cargo boat operator on Lake Victoria, it expanded into vessel construction and repair after acquiring the assets of the Pasiansi Boat Yard in 1998. The company designs and builds steel, aluminium, GRP and fiberglass vessels — including ferries, cargo vessels, barges and pontoons — and offers repair, maintenance, refitting, decommissioning, equipment rental and supply, manpower and inspection services to clients across East and Central Africa. It also runs transport and passenger ferry services on Lake Victoria.
Songoro Marine Transport LTD
Songoro Marine Transport LTD, also known as Songoro Marine, is a Tanzanian shipbuilding, repair and marine construction company with more than 30 years of experience. Incorporated in 1993 under Ordinance Cap 212 and founded by the late Mr. Saleh Songoro in the Mwanza region, the company began by carrying passengers and cargo between the Mwanza Gulf and villages along the south-eastern shore of Lake Victoria. In 1998 it purchased the assets of the government-owned Pasiansi Boat Yard, adding construction and repair of steel vessels to its business. It is currently led by two directors, Major Songoro (ENG) as Managing Director and Khalid Songoro (ENG) as Director, and serves both domestic and international customers in East and Central Africa.

Completed projects listed include MV Ukara II (built at the Mwanza yard, Lake Victoria, 2020), MV Kilindoni (launched from the Dar es Salaam yard in February 2021, 100-tonne capacity, serving Nyamisati–Kilindoni on Mafia Island), MV Kazi (2017, Magogoni–Kigamboni crossing, 22 vehicles and up to 800 passengers) and MV Mwanza.
