Astander will install a portable industrial wastewater treatment unit and a reverse osmosis system under the ASTANDER MA project in Santander. The yard says the systems are intended to treat and reuse water from hull cleaning and maintenance, and to remove heavy metals, hydrocarbons and biocides before discharge.
Astander has joined the ASTANDERSOSTEE project, a shipyard-focused initiative under Spain’s PERTE Naval programme aimed at cutting energy use and environmental impact in ship repair and conversion work. The Santander yard will host trials of smart energy monitoring, predictive maintenance tools and a hydroblasting system using osmotized water.
