Zodiac Maritime has ordered two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers at Hanwha Ocean, according to shipbuilding sources. The UK shipmanager has been identified as the buyer, in what would be its first move into conventional LNG shipping.

The contract was signed on 23 Sep 2026 and runs until 2 Nov 2029. It is valued at KRW680bn for the two firm vessels.

The order also includes options for two additional 174,000-cbm LNG carriers, which could lift the series to four ships. No verified contract value has been disclosed for the optional units.

Zodiac Maritime’s fleet portfolio has traditionally focused on dry bulk, tankers and containerships. Hanwha Ocean continues to secure orders in the LNG carrier market.

Delivery schedules have not been disclosed, and neither has the timing for any exercise of the options.
