An OVNI 430 built in 2023 is being offered for sale at Port Leucate after returning to Alubat last winter for synthetic teak to be added across the entire deck.
Kept in very good condition by its owners, the boat was used for two years of cruising in Norway and then in the Mediterranean.
Alubat says the yacht is a 2-cabin version, with a classic convertible saloon berth and a technical locker with a bunk.
It is equipped with an OceanVolt ACX20 electric motor rated at 20kW, paired with a Fisher Panda AGT generator of 11kW, and LiFePO4 batteries arranged as 4 x 24V, 230Ah.
The yard says the OVNI 430 is set up for long-range cruising.
It has a rigid aluminium doghouse to protect watchkeepers.
The interior includes a spacious forward cabin, a comfortable aft port cabin, a saloon with extensive stowage, a practical longitudinal galley with all-electric cooking equipment, a chart table facing forward and a heads compartment with separate shower.
The aft starboard locker, also accessible from the cockpit, contains a bunk and the electrical equipment.
Alubat also points buyers to the sistership OVNI 430 “Nikola”, which uses the same propulsion system and has published information on its blog about hybrid-electric operation at https://www.sailing-nikola.com/hybrid-electric.
In a note from the owners, the boat is described as the result of more than 40 years of sailing, mostly on chartered boats.
The owners said they are Canadian and bought their own boat to sail five or six months a year.
Looking for a long-range yacht on three criteria, they said: safety at sea, reliability and robustness; a hull with no maintenance; and resale value.
“Nous n’avons pas été déçu avec notre OVNI 430 au contraire,” they wrote.
After sailing in northern waters including Norway, Scotland and Ireland, and later in the Mediterranean, they valued the boat’s stability at sea, its upwind and downwind performance in strong winds, and the visibility and light provided by the panoramic coachroof and doghouse protection.
They also cited the saloon, separate shower and spacious technical locker.
The owners said the hybrid propulsion gave them good autonomy, silent and odour-free motor sailing on many occasions, easy port manoeuvres ahead and astern, and no maintenance.
They also pointed to the absence of propane, the induction hob and convection oven, and an electric Torqueedo motor for the tender.
For the past three years, the boat has been hauled out every winter.
It is being left in excellent condition, ready to sail, with all essential equipment and spare parts well sorted, and the owners said they will remain available to answer questions.
