CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading Co. signed a cooperation agreement with Shandong Shipping Corporation on 27 August for a 2+4 project covering 325,000 DWT ethanol/methanol tri-fuel ore carriers.
Two firm units plus four additional ships are in the order. Beihai said the vessels are a new generation of large ore carriers designed to meet future maritime emission-reduction requirements.
They can operate on ethanol, methanol and heavy fuel oil.
