CMN has taken on 33 new alternants for the 2026 intake, bringing the number of young people in training at the yard to 55 as of 1 September 2026. The 33 join 22 apprentices already working at the shipbuilder, and together they account for more than 10% of CMN’s workforce.
The new alternants are spread across production, technical trades and administrative functions. Their training ranges from CAP level to engineering degree level.
Working alongside the yard’s teams, they will acquire professional skills and train in different branches of the naval industry.
Training and transfer of know-how
CMN said alternance has an important place within the yard because it allows shipbuilding know-how to be passed on and helps young people build skills. By combining training with work inside the teams, it said the scheme helps prepare the skills the naval industry needs to build the ships of tomorrow.
CMN welcomed the 33 new alternants and wished all apprentices at the yard a good start to the academic year.
